Winter Update - Sunday, December 13, 2009
Brothers,

It is with great excitement that I write you this update.  The Undergraduate Chapter has reached its largest size since returning to campus, 31 brothers.  This is just 2 men short of reaching the required 33 brothers to be eligible for re-installation.  I want to thank all of the great men who have made this possible.  From Gamma Eta Alumni, to Bucknell Administrators, to the LECs and all other members of the International Fraternity of Theta Chi.

We are looking forward to the future of the Gamma Eta Chapter at Bucknell.  But we will not be able to do it without the support of our fellow Alumni.  Be it financial or through the gift of your time, we are going to need your help.  If you think you can be of any help, please contact myself or any of the other members of the Alumni Corp.  We are going to be looking to provide more support to the undergrad chapter than we have been able to in the last few years.  With your help, this will all be possible.

Fraternally,
Joe Rusiewicz '07
Alumni Corp. President

State of the Fraternity - Tuesday, September 01, 2009
Brothers,

It has been awhile since we have updated you on the status of the undergrad chapter.  I want to sincerely thank the over 60 brothers who took the time to sign the petition asking the Grand Chapter to review the undergrads petition for re-installation.  After receiving the letter, the Grand Chapter asked the undergrads to prepare their petition and submit it for consideration at their summer meeting.  A special thanks to Walt MacEachern '71 for editorial support.

Upon review of the petition, the Grand Chapter decided not to re-install the undergraduate chapter.  However, they decided upon a set of requirements, that if met, would provide sufficient evidence of the viability of the chapter and they would re-install the undergrads.  The requirements are for the chapter to reach a size of 33 men, the undergrads must contact the National Fraternity's Recruitment Committee to develop a recruitment plan, and for the Alumni Corporation to send a letter of apology.  As of this writing, the only requirement left to achieve is the 33 members.  We will have a better idea in the next few days after formal recruitment is over of where the undergraduates stand.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all at homecoming this year!

Gamma Eta Needs Your Help NOW! - Sunday, December 14, 2008
As some of you may be aware, Theta Chi IHQ has made a thinly veiled threat to the continued existence of Gamma Eta at Bucknell University.  The men of the Colony have made great achievements over the past few years, and have been singled out at conferences as positive example for other Theta Chi chapters.  However, because the Colony has not grown to 45 men in the time frame that IHQ desires, they are now threatening to shut down the Colony this Spring.

The Officers of the Alumni Corporation have drafted a letter in response to this ridiculous stance that IHQ has adopted.  A copy of the letter is available in the "Documents" section of our website (Gamma Eta Re-Installation Support Letter).  We ask that you take a minute to read the letter and sign the second page to show your support for our undergraduates.

Please send these support letters to Alumni Corporation President Joe Rusiewicz (742 Saint Paul St., Lewisburg PA 17837) by January 15th so that we may include your signatures with those of the Officers and other friends like Dean of Students for Greek Life Lewis "Chip" Marrara.

If you wish to contact Theta Chi IHQ directly, we certainly appreciate the sentiment but ask that you sign the official Alumni Corp. letter as well.

This is the time when your Chapter needs you most.  Without your support, we may not have a presence at Bucknell for much longer.  We are not asking for your money, just a couple of minutes of your time.  Please take 5 minutes to read our letter and sign your name in support of your fellow Gamma Eta'

Theta Chi Alumni Golf Outing - 5/2-5/3
Mike Lyon (’75) is the organizer for the annual Gamma Eta “Your Fly is” Open Spring golf tournament!!!

The Theta Golf Outing is off and running again this year for 5/2 - 5/3. We play the Bucknell golf course Friday 5/2 and White Deer in Williamsport Sat 5/3, and most of us (still, if you can believe it!) play 36 holes each day.

Skill level varies greatly from those who average 80 for 4 rounds to those who average 130 for 4 rounds. Don't let lack of skill be a deterrent; we're all out for a good time and a wee bit o' beer.

Mike has a number of rooms reserved at the Days Inn in Lewisburg for anyone wishing accommodations for Thursday, Fri or Sat nights. There will also be an informal group dinner Saturday evening at Rusty's in Lewisburg (now under a new name, but the same location by the Bull Run)

***Final arrangements for room and tee times have to be made by 3/31, so please contact Mike to RSVP via email at michaellyon@hotmail.com

There might still be room and tee times available after 3/31, but interested parties will be on their own to set it up.
